Christmas2009

As is now tradition, our Christmas was filled with lots of people, a sickening amount of chocolate consumption, staying in our PJ's until the afternoon, and a general air of controlled chaos. :)

Not much to say, except to provide some photos of the grand day.

I'm gonna steal my friend Lisa's tag line about their family's stance on Santa: "It's fun to pretend."

And that is pretty much what we think too.

So let's talk a bit about this otherwise extravagant gift. We have friends who have a train set and Henry is in love with all things Thomas right now. Perfect Christmas gift!

So, off I naively went to Toys R Us...

and just about had a heart attack.

Train stuff is EX.PEN.SIVE.

As in, ridiculous expensive.

Luckily, I thought to check Craigslist.

Found (an obviously wealthy) family in Santa Barbara who were selling all of their kids' Thomas and Brio stuff.

The train table.

TONS of track.

Wooden trains.

Tunnels.

Bridges.

Accessories.

Books.

DVDs.

Bed Sheets.

PJ's.

Die cast trains.

Carrying cases.

Video games.

Coloring books.

Name. It.

Anything and everything you can imagine that has a licensed Thomas on it...they had it...

and sold it to us.

For $125.

In case you don't know, we *easily*...EASILY....scored about $1,000 worth of Thomas stuff.

(There are two more drawers filled with stuff).

Easily.

I normally wouldn't spend over $100 on my 2 year old...but this deal was too good to pass up. So it has sat in our garage for the last two months...and I definately convinced Henry that what he wanted Santa to bring him was a choo choo train set.

The gift was a hit.

I haven't even seen the kid for three days.

Brilliant.

Wow! What a steal!! :) I never leave a comment...but I thought it was time...I do love your blog and the crazy/joyful fun it appears to be to have a boy and twin girls!! :) You're doing a great job with them...at least from what I can "read"/see! :)

It's really awkward when you don't play up Santa and strangers keep asking your kid what Santa brought them. Yikes. Maybe next year we will try that "It's fun to pretend" line.

And I love your deal on the train stuff. Those Thomas people are making a fortune!

"It's fun to pretend" till the child recognizes the handwriting - that would be ME and I recognized my dad's writing. How fun, though, that you could find such wonderful things for the kids. Glad you had a good time and survived. love and hugs
