cheap carpet + 2 shades darker than ivory + 2 dogs + 2 adults + 1 toddler + 2 more babies = DIS.GUS.TING.
We aren't dirty people. Yet, our carpet was constantly FILTHY. We had it cleaned 3 months ago (for $125!), and it was awful again. I was embarrassed to have people over, it grossed me out, and I always felt like my house was always dirty even if it had just been cleaned. Blech. It was all I could see when I was downstairs.
Dirty carpet.
And I knew it was only going to get worse when I had three kids...two of whom will likely be spitting up all over the place for the first few months.
So, rather than pay to have it cleaned (again), I talked Andy into installing laminate Pergo flooring. I would have loved to do real hardwood, but it's so expensive, and I really think I would have over-improved the house.

It was a big job and Andy worked really, really hard all weekend getting it in. We did the living room and dining room...now to convince Andy that it would love FANTASTIC in the kitchen too! (Do you regret marrying me yet, dear?)

Check out that spare tire on that guy laying the moisture barrier!!!
is Henry swiffering? Way to go momma! Put that kid to work :)
Hey, what's wrong with spare tires? I think they are sexy! :) (especially when they are working to put my latest hair brained idea together!)
Great job! Great husband! Great friends and their wives! You are truly blessed, Jeannett. Can't wait to see pictures of the kitchen when it gets done. :)
The floors look so great, Jeannett!
Wonderful!! I LOVED having pergo floors in Mississippi.
My carpet is SO GROSS now! I have a one year old and a three year old, though. People understand, right?
Ronin swiffers our floors too!
Looks awesome!! What color did you choose?? Kinda looks a little like mine--I LOVE the pergo--not the dog hair so much but so easy to sweep up!
Peggy -it's called Potomac Hickory...it's a little redder than I had anticipated...it looked much more brown at home depot...it seems to look kinda cherry colored in bright sunlight, and at nighttime/evening it looks more brown...
One thing terribly misstated here..... We all know it would have taken Andy a good 10 hours plus for the work that was done by those stud helpers!
maybe i can get one of those stud helpers to get some of our honey-do's done around here. ahem.
maybe we should set up a honey-do day once a month. each month the group of guys goes to a different house of the group's and donates a day to doing a project (of the wife's choosing)? anyone with me?
the floors look incredible! you'll love wiping spit up off them!
So pretty!
Nesting is fun. Um, sort of. Except that the nesting drive kind of doesn't leave us alone right when we could use a break.
I loved your comparisons between your suitcases then and now.
