We went to the Lactation Consultant this morning for a follow up and to weigh Henry again. It turned out that he was gaining weight slowly...babies should gain between 0.5 and 1.0 ounces per day. The last few weeks Henry's weight gain was at 0.5 oz. per day...which is normal, but on the low end of normal. So, with a few tricks up her sleeve, the LC had me do some things to up my milk supply and get more into Henry's belly.
Long story short, my little bird is getting bigger...he weighed 6 pounds, 4 ounces!!! He had weighed 5 pounds, 12 ounces five days ago...so that's MORE than an ounce a day! Woohoo! I think that because nursing was hurting me so badly, I was probably pulling him off too early and he wasn't getting enough. I feel awful admitting that, but I think it's the case.
Anyway, I'm just soooo jazzed that he is not only gaining weight, but he is over 6 pounds! That was like the unattainable goal for a while. I almost cried at her office I was so proud of my little dude. And I'm also relieved to know that I am able to feed my son...I totally felt like a failure for a while there...but I'm happy all seems to be falling into place with his feedings. Now if only we can have such a positive meeting with the Cardiologist tomorrow morning...

i thought id share if i was pregnant and were to have a baby this is what madame zaritska saw...
lol
Madame Zaritska, our resident clairvoyant, wants to help you prepare for the arrival of your child. Here she does her best to predict certain aspects of your labor and birth experience.
What she senses for you
The day you deliver, outside will be slightly overcast. Your baby will arrive in the afternoon.
After a labor lasting approximately 4 hours, your child, a boy, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 8 pounds, 15 ounces, and will be 18 inches long. This child will have light blue eyes and a little patch of brown hair.
But there is more. I know you imagine your baby often. You wonder if your baby is safe and healthy. Why don't you go listen to a baby's heartbeat and think soothing thoughts about your own child.
way to "grow" little man!!! can't wait to see you and snuggle some more!
LOL!!! I love it! Good to see she thinks you would have a quick labor!
Woo hoo! So glad to hear the good news. I am so happy that the tricks did what was needed--for you both!!
Love,
Peg
