So, if you're really perceptive, you'll see that I'm posting this at a ridiculous time of day. It is 2:48 a.m. as I type this, and I've been up since about 1:30. Yesterday, the day before, the day before that, and the day before that, I woke up at 3 a.m. only to lay in bed thinking that maybe, if I didn't move, I'd fall back asleep. Nope. Just layed there. WIDE awake. So, I'm trying a different approach this time. I'm up, surfing the net to see if maybe I'll get tired again. As of this moment, I am still as awake as ever and drowsiness is nowhere in sight.
I don't know what the deal is, but what I do know is that it's really miserable. The hardest part is that guess when I start to get tired? Oh, yea, that would be at about 7:00 when it's time to get ready for work. And then I am utterly exhausted all day while trying to concentrate, sit in meetings, and well, work. I walked around my office yesterday like a zombie, having to get up and walk around about every 15 minutes just to keep myself awake. I took two "toilet seat naps" and went home at lunch and napped for about half hour. Still exhausted.
I've googled insomnia during pregnancy and it all points to being uncomfortable because of your big belly, nausea, constant peeing, and anxiety about the baby and/or labor. Well, (as far as I know) it's none of that for me. I'm not waking up worrying, I'm perfectly comfortable, and the peeing isn't an issue. So, I'm just a freak. I'm going to call my midwife today and find out if there's anything I can take or if she has any suggestions. I've had bouts of insomnia throughout my life in general, but it's usually the kind where I couldn't fall asleep to begin with. This whole falling asleep just fine and waking up at obscene times is new for me. And compounded with just being exhausted from pregnancy, I fear that I might just lose it at work one of these days.
Well, it's 3:00 and I'm still wide awake as ever. I'm so jealous of Andy. He's in there lightly snoring. And if I listen real close, even my dogs are snoring every so slightly. Jerks.
Update: I finally went to bed about 3:30...only to find one of my dogs sleeping in my spot on the bed. When I told her to get off, she just let out this huge sigh. "Off!" Nothing. I had to drag the 80 pound beast out of my rightful place in the bed. The benefit was that my spot wasn't cold.
And then, I layed there. And layed there some more. Never went back to sleep. Finally, it was time to get up and get ready for work. I have a two hour presentation banquet to go to and a two hour meeting scheduled. Today should be interesting.

Oh no! That is awful! During the first part of pregnancy I also have sleep issues, and they're also not related to being uncomfortable or peeing. Kevin's alarm would go off at 4:45, and I'd wake up, and lay there wide awake forever and ever. SO you are not alone.
I'll pray you survive your day today!!! (Missed you last night by the way.)
