Front Page News!

Santa Maria gets a really bad rap. But when the grand opening of a local park is what makes the front page on Sunday morning, you know that obviously it isn't THAT bad.

When your son and husband's photo makes it onto the front page of said paper, it makes you grin.

I love living in a "small-ish" town. I love that it is conceivable that your photo ends up on the front page, and you didn't even have to murder anyone to get there.

I saw Andy being interviewed by the reporter, and I was a nervous wreck. As you know, he isn't the king of politically correct, and I silently prayed that he wouldn't say anything bad...after all, this was a work thing for me (I helped organize the park dedication). Not that I can even think of anything he might have said, but I still worried a little.

I mean, really...Andy + Reporter = ??? (Love you honey!)

Luckily, he didn't say anything bad...in fact, it was actually pretty cute. :)

Santa Maria resident Andy Gibson kept an eye on his son Henry, 21 months old, as the boy climbed all over one of two nearby playground sets. Gibson, who acknowledged he might be biased because his wife was a planner on the park project, said he thinks Orcutt Community Park is great and worth the drive from Santa Maria. Gibson said his son is too young to comment.

“I’ll speak for him and tell you he’s pretty happy.”

Here's the whole story.

Front page picture - awesome! (We love going to Santa Maria and Orcutt. They have great food like Panera and Tip Top Bakery, the FRIENDLIEST Subway I've ever been to, and of course, great parks!)
