DOGS: More than just fetch

Dogs can serve lots of purposes in a home with a toddler:

Dogs make great "horsies"...

Someone to supervise sand castle building...

They make a great jungle gym...

Someone to help you look out for Daddy coming home...

Someone to clean up your messes...

Someone to help you look for just the right rock...
Someone to share your lunch with...
Someone to beg for food with...

They can make the perfect chairs...and (the photo mom can never get) a great stool for climbing up onto the couch...

Because a healthy dose of competition never hurt anyone...

And they make fantastic pillows...

Someone to lean on...

And someone to be your best friend from the very beginning...

Sometimes I get frustrated with having two large, long-haired dogs. The shedding, the constant vacumming, the extra mouths to feed, just two more things to take care of...until I see the joy and companionship grow day by day between these two beasts and my little son. It makes every bit worth it and I know that his most vivid childhood memories will always include these two (very patient) dogs.

Almost makes me want to get a dog. Almost. :) I love the healthy competition--that is just too funny.

Okay this post was SO SWEET. It makes me wish I had a dog!!! (If only they could walk, feed, and vacuum themselves! :) )
