Laying Sod...Sucks. A lot.

We spent our Memorial Day weekend...

Roto tilling the dirt...

Spreading 4 cubic yards of top soil...er, I mean manure...

Laying edging (Ben LOVED this job! HA!)...

Laying chicken wire (to deter gophers and digging dogs)...
Laying sod...Rolling it flat...

Laying out landscaping fabric and spreading bark mulch...building a gate in the side yard to keep the dogs contained....But worth it to have this out the back door...

We are tired. Very. Tired.

**HUGE THANK YOU to Ben, Jon, Mary Kay, and Brian for helping with this daunting task!**

(Sadly, our budget is spent so all those pretty flowers I had planned for the garden beds will have to wait...oh well, at least I can actually keep my kitchen floor clean now!!! YAY!!!)

Looks beautiful!! And I have to say I'm happy you will be able to keep your kitchen floor clean. That would drive me nuts!

We've laid seed and sod, and I can't decide which is better (of course, I didn't do any of the work!). The sod of course was immediate gratification, but we have spots that went dead immediately (rectangular spots, so you kind of have to wonder). I guess we know who NOT to recommend when buying sod.

I wish I had your drive! We still have a lot to paint and haven't lifted a roller in over a year! You have a huge yard and it looks fantastic!

Oh WOW! It looks fabulous! So lush and green...I wanna go roll around in it :)
I need to pick your brain about living in SM by the way. I know you mentioned doing a post eventually about SM getting a bad rap. I'm curious to read your thoughts...hubs and I are considering it more and more. Our money would go so much further there - but since I'm from the five cities...of course, I was raised with the whole "bad rap" thing in my head. I have no idea which areas are safe or family friendly - when you have time, I'd love to hear your thoughts!
